SRI LAKSHMI NRISIMHA SWAMY SEVA SAMITHI, HYDERABAD (Regd.No.251/2003)

Sriyapathi - Sriman Narayanan, the protector of all Jeevathmas, has taken lots and lots of Avathaars(Incarnations) to protect this entire world against evil.

Though he has taken various Avathaars (forms) in various yugams, the main purpose of taking those Avathaars is to protect his bhaktas and to help in many ways against the evils and to protect the Dharmam. Some of the great Avathaar taken by Sriman Narayanan are :

Lord Sriman Narayana had incarnated in various Avarthars. These 10 avatars occupy a special place in the vedas and puranas and are referred as DASAVATHAR.

Each avatar has a specific reason known as AVATARA RAHASYAM . Lord Sriman Narayana always led by example. He showed us the way life was meant to be lived every moment by enacting the same. He showed how a son, a husband and a Brother should live in "SRI RAMA AVATARAM". He paved the way for an Ideal rule of RAMA RAJYA.

The Bhagavath Gita, as laid down by the lord himself sitting as a charioteer of Arjuna during the Mahabharatha war, has been a guide to human life, which describes the various ways to attain the abode of the lord. The principles of Bhagavath Geeta are being followed by many people even today in their daily life. The basic reason for all his avatara's are for "DUSHTA SIKSHANA, SISHTA RAKSHANA AND DHARMA SAMRAKSHANA". All avatara's were to protect the mankind, eliminate the evil and the wicked and Save Dharma.

One avatara which stands out as the Jewel of the Crown is the Narasimha Avatara. While all avataras have been to save dharma and eliminate evil (adharma), this very Narasimha Avatara has been to protect his most beloved devotee. The lord had manifested himself into every single thing on this earth to emerge from the point where this devotee pointed his finger. This devotee was none other than the Great Bhakta Prahaladha.

Pleased with Prahaladha's devotion, the lord promised not to kill any one in his clan for the next 7 generations. The 7th Generation was Mahabali who offered space equal to the 3 steps of Vamana, the 5th incarnation of Lord Mahavishnu. Accepting the offer (alms) from Mahabali, the lord took the form of Trivikrama. He measured the whole world with one step, the entire space and universe with the second. When the question arose for the third step, Mahabali offered his head. The lord sent him into Pathala and Mahabali ruled pathala then on. By this the lord established Dharma and also kept the promise he made to Prahaladha.

In this Kali yugam, any of the Nava Vidha Bhakti of Sri Vishnu (Shravanam, Kirtanam, Smaranam, Pada-sevanam, Archanam, Vandanam, Dasyaam, Sakhyam, Atma-nivedanam) alone will protect us and will lead us in a right path. But, this is reflected in some previous yugams itself. Hiranyakashibu treated himself as the god and wanted the entire world to chant his name instead of Sriman Narayanan. The entire human race in fear chanted his name instead of Sri Vishnu. But, his son - Prahaladha, one of he greatest Vishnu Bhakta Ever known, did not chant his father's name but chanted Sri Vishnu's Naamam "Om Namo Narayanaya Namaha".

"Om Namo Narayanaya Namaha" as the Mokshamantram or Thirumantharam.

Because of this, Hiranyakashibu tried to kill his own son after repeated efforts of getting prahaladha chant his name and was finally slayed by Sriman Narayanan who took the form of beautiful lion headed Human "Sri Narasimhar". So, this is the Avathar, which is the lord took upon the will (or) because of the bhakti of his Bhaktas - Prahaladhan.

This clearly states that He is always there to protect the Bhaktas who have undoubted devotion towards him.
